Hula

School hula (hula Halau) establishes special rules, such as no haircuts hair or nail cutting. School graduates participated in the ritual of purification and bathed in ocean water. After the ritual began a huge festival (luau), which together with the alumni invited all members of the family. Currently, the school continues to teach hula hula traditional dance. And as before, the end of the school accompanied by feasting and dancing.

Originally intended hula dance to worship the gods. In earlier times, dance dance on the platform, which also stood the altar of the goddess Pele. Traditional costume consisted of lei (garland-beads), pau (skirt) and bracelets to his feet, made of whale bone or dog's teeth. Today costumes more "modest", and recommend to their dance school female students to wear long skirts and tops or loose dress, and his disciples - pants or a little.
